One myth we need to overcome is the myth of the autonomous individual, disconnected from their society, and race, and culture, and opportunities and class. That's a dangerous myth that feeds into the grossly unequal society that we have. It appears to legitimize the idea that the rich deserve their wealth and the poor deserve their poverty

Artist Raoul Martinez examines the limits of freedom as personal ethos and economic ideology in a time of spiraling inequality and political instability, and calls for a fundamental shift in the way we think of ourselves, our values and each other if humans are to achieve liberation and equality for all.
