What Paths Remain for Preventing Climate Apocalypse? / Malcolm Harris

We’re going to work because we need to eat in the short term, because we need to pay for ourselves in the short term while we are, in the long term, harming habitability of the only planet we can possibly live on. We can be destroying our own communities, destroying our ability to live on this planet in the name of solving our short-term problems. I don't think that's delusional. I don't think that's greedy, and I don't think that's like even a failure of our own thinking. That's a situation in which we all find ourselves. And that helps explain why every society in the world finds itself unable to address climate change at the level necessary.

Malcolm Harris Returns to This Is Hell! to discuss his new book, What's Left: Three Paths Through the Planetary Crisis. "The Moment of Truth" with Jeff Dorchen follows the interview.
