Remembering the "Good" War / Elizabeth Samet

Feb 15 2023
We do seem to attribute to that earlier generation some greatness and I think there’s a delicate balance between honoring real sacrifice, and I think we should do that, and thinking that there is some sort of lost greatness that we can’t recover, that we’re kind of mired in an unhelpful nostalgia that doesn’t really illuminate the future very effectively for us.

We have on Elizabeth Samet, author of, "Looking for the Good War: American Amnesia and the Violent Pursuit of Happiness." Elizabeth is a professor of English at West Point.
