The would repeat the words of the prosecutors for the first three quarters of the article, then in the last paragraph they'd say, well "Lula's defense lawyer says he's innocent of all charges,' but they wouldn't explain the arguments, so anyone reading the article would think 'oh well he's gotta be guilty.' In this sense, the New York Times contributed to normalizing the rise of a fascist in Brazil who is now responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths.
