Sustaining a Politics of Extermination and Climate Chaos / Omar El Akkad

I fear that we're in this cycle where particularly in the United States, where you have essentially major parties to choose from in terms of viability on the federal level. Where one party sort of meanders in with this kind of centrism. Where the performance is so much more progressive than the reality. That people become disillusioned and effectively don't feel the need to vote for them anymore. And then a far more fascist alternative kicks in and does so much damage that people become energized and they vote against them again. And then we repeat the cycle over and over again as we head towards climate disaster and ongoing genocide and all of these calamities.

Award-winning author Omar El Akkad joins “This Is Hell!” to talk about his new book, "One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This”, published by the Penguin Books.
