Big Oil's Climate Change Cover-Up Began in the 1950s / Rebecca John

Amnesia is very damaging to democracy and to the pursuit of a good life. With every rallying moment of protest or pressure to bring about climate action, the industry switches over to different tactics to try and lull the public into a sense that it's okay to consume fossil fuels. It's fine. “Keep calm and carry on consuming fossil fuels,” is really the message. The discoveries, concerns, and preoccupations of each generation get forgotten.

Rebecca John joins us to discuss her writing at DeSmog, "Revealed: Big Oil Told 70 Years Ago That Fossil Fuel Emissions Could Impact ‘Civilization.’" "Rotten History" from Renaldo Migaldi and "The Moment of Truth" with Jeff Dorchen follow the interview.
