It's so critical to maintain universities as a free space for critical thought. This is what we see in Hungary with Viktor Orban taking over universities. It tends to be one of the first moves by autocrats and fascists to try to control how people are able to think...The ability to dissent and to protest against really comes from the ability to think critically and to call out injustice. I think once you start eroding that you, you're starting to breed complacency, which is what is necessary for fascism.
