Israel's Complicity in Guatemalan Genocide / Mary Jo McConahay

It's not only the hardware that Israel supplied. They also supplied soft armament, the technology and the training to Guatemalans with regard to these controlled settlements that the survivors went to after the scorched earth campaign. The people who were left were funneled into these concentration camps in the mountains. And in the mid 80s, I visited some of them and they, they were dire, dire places. This was all done on a pattern learned from the Israelis, according to the Guatemalans who did it. It was a long range effort at social control in that region. The intention came from the Guatemalans, but the how to do it came from the Israelis.
