The Christian Roots of Antisemitism and Racism / Magda Teter

3211401

Christianity comes up with something different. Its supremacy and superiority and supersessionism is about conversion and domination to that truth. That’s what we’re seeing here in 2023 with the book bans, the erasure of certain kinds of history, and the imposition of beliefs through law.

Historian Madga Teter joins This is Hell! to discuss her new book, Christian Supremacy: Reckoning with the Roots of Antisemitism and Racism, now available from Princeton University Press. The work offers "a panoramic cultural and legal history that traces the roots of antisemitism and racism to early Christian theology."
