Seeing the limits of Black liberals, and the horizon of Black radicals.

There is no improved race relations in a colony. There is no improved race relations in White supremacy. Anytime there are gestures towards that, or even the thinking of its possibility - to talk about the possibility of reformed White supremacy, the possibility of reformed colonialism - one presumes the relationship between the oppressed and the oppressor will always remain the same... I would rather have bad race relations that can end up in anticolonialism, than to have good race relations in a colony.

Africana studies scholar Yannick Giovanni Marshall explains how Black liberals work to police the possibilities of Black politics - coopting and neutering the critiques of radicals, in service of their own position in a society built on centuries of exploitation of Black life and labor.
