Will The Truth Appeal If Unadorned With Lies?

1047jeffdorchen

A pickle? Advertising. A homemade pickle? Advertising for the DIY lifestyle. A 6th-century pre-Islamic poem about onions? Advertising. A mountain? A mountain in the middle of the Sahara desert that no human being has ever laid eyes on? How could that be advertising? It is advertising. I don’t know how, but it is advertising. An as-yet- undiscovered asteroid in a galaxy on the other side of the universe? Is that a question? What do you think the answer is going to be? Yes, it’s advertising!

In a Moment of Truth, Jeff Dorchen writes a premise check his monologue can't cash, which is maybe the point of the whole thing, lying to get your attention and selling you a lie, which you just accept because it's all lies all the way down, there aren't even elephants or turtles at the bottom, just deception. Trust us.
