Gabriel Winant

Gabriel Winant is a historian of the social structures of inequality in modern American capitalism. He is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Chicago. His first book, The Next Shift: The Fall of Manufacturing and the Rise of Health Care in Rust Belt America investigates the rise of the “service economy” in the aftermath of manufacturing. He also writes frequently for publications such as the Nation, Dissent, and n+1.
