We Need an Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza / Phyllis Bennis

Austin 202 8469717987

A ceasefire is crucial because people's lives are at stake. There are 2. 2 million people who live in Gaza. The vast majority of them, almost 2. 2 million people, are not fighters. They are the ones who are suffering. Will some fighters maybe survive who might have other been otherwise been killed. Maybe. That's okay with me if the civilians do not get killed. How many civilians have to die? How many babies have to die? This is a long standing tradition, almost a rule, for US policymakers: when Israel is involved, ceasefire becomes a toxic word.

Institute for Policy Studies' Phyllis Bennis on her recent writing, “As Israel and Gaza erupt, the US must commit to ending the violence — all the violence,” at The Hill and, “Both Israelis and Palestinians Are Victims of Israel’s Apartheid System," at InsideSources.

We will also have this week's Hangover Cure, Question from Hell, and Rotten History.
